Sitting at a nicely organized desk but staring at an assignment sheet for an hour does not count as quality work time. The next step in the process is establishing strong study skills. Nancy will help students develop techniques and skills to efficiently start and complete assignments, which to her are integral pieces of the puzzle.
Homework re-instills the day’s lessons and gives students more time and opportunity to practice and review the material learned in school; but it also teaches responsibility. The completion and handing in of routine assignments is just as important as doing well on exams. Right now, school is your child’s job, and a significant component of that job is doing homework. Therefore, homework time needs to be a regularly scheduled priority. It also needs to be just homework time—not MySpace, TV, Instant Messaging, or snack time. Would you let an employee surf the internet while on the clock at work? So why should you allow your child to do so during homework time?
